Meritxell JOAN-RODRÍGUEZ is a predoctoral researcher at ADHUC—Center for Research Theory, Gender, Sexuality. Her doctoral research focuses on the study of the identitary consequences, both individual and collective, of contemporary population movements through a literary lens and from a transdisciplinary perspective. She specializes in the Maghreb and in various European geographies such as Catalonia, France and the United Kingdom. Her interests also include gender studies and postcolonial studies. She has studied the work of Najat El Hachmi, Dalila Kerchouche, Leila Sebbar and Jumpa Lahiri, among others.
