Conversation around the book "Nefando Imperio"

In February 2025, Editorial Comares published Nefando Imperio, the first monograph dedicated exclusively to the crime of sodomy in the Hispanic Monarchy during the Modern Age. In just over four months, we have seen it reach bookstores and libraries around the world.
This work, lovingly compiled by Professor Fernanda Molina and Juan Pedro Navarro, and completed with eleven fundamental works by researchers from Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Ecuador, Chile, Mexico, Argentina, and the United States, will finally have its first presentation at the University of Barcelona, with Professor Mariela Fargas Peñarrocha as moderator of the book presentation.
In addition, we will have the presence of one of the authors of the work, Marta V. Vicente, professor at the University of Kansas, who will talk to us about her texts on María Durán, the so-called “Catalan hermaphrodite”, and about the plasticity of the terms of contemporary sexual slang to talk about individuals from the Ancient Régime.
We look forward to seeing you on MONDAY, June 16th in the JANE ADDAMS HALL of the Faculty of Philosophy, Geography and History of the UB.
