Lectora calls for contributions for issue 33

CFP / Journal

Lectora: revista de dones i textualitat has just opened the submission period for articles for the dossier ‘Feminisms in music: women, dissidence and new masculinities in the musical and audiovisual discourses of popular music’, which will be published in issue 33, corresponding to the year 2027. This dossier will focus on the analysis of popular music and its ideological, artistic and identity implications from a feminist perspective, with the aim of offering theoretical and empirical knowledge about popular music and gender from a cultural studies approach. To this end, it proposes a transdisciplinary dialogue between the theoretical corpus of feminism, gender studies and queer theory with the fields of musicology and communication. The dossier invites articles that analyse musical styles or artists as references for the articulation of identities, the unequal representation of women and non-binary identities in music videos, the analysis of songs not only as media that reinforce heteropatriarchal ideology, but also as devices for feminist expression in a context of participatory culture that empowers women and non-binary people in the media and on social networks, among other issues. The dossier will be coordinated by Cande Sánchez-Olmos (University of Alicante) and Eduardo Viñuela (University of Oviedo). The deadline for receiving articles, both for the dossier and the miscellaneous section, is 15 September 2026. Lectora provides free and immediate access to its content based on the principle that making research freely available promotes the global exchange of knowledge.
