For a New Ontological Politics: Thinking with Hélène Cixous by Marta Segarra
Carrer Montalegre, 5
08001 Barcelona
As part of the closing event of the CRIC – UB Master’s degree, Marta Segarra engages in a dialogue with the work of Hélène Cixous to advocate the decolonization of thought.
In times of ecological, political, ethical, social crisis..., aggravated by the globalization of the Western model, perhaps what we need is a new ontological politics, as suggested by Isabelle Stengers. To counteract the colonization of thought by the global North, with its imposition of a singular worldview, Marta Segarra suggests moving beyond its binary foundations and embracing plurality in our ways of worldmaking. Art and, especially, literature, is one of the most effective ways of bringing about this “decolonization of thought”. Hélène Cixous’s fiction, especially in recent years, offers new avenues in this direction.
At the opening of the session, the awards will be given for the best BA and MA dissertations in Contemporary Theatre Studies and Performing Arts from the Teatre Lliure - CRIC Master’s Program – Research Group in Contemporary British Theatre Barcelona (CBTB).
