Artsoundscapes at the Virtual Festa de la Ciència 2020

The traditional Science Fair [Festa de la Ciència] of the University of Barcelona was virtual this year, as many other events during the lockdown imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Researchers from different faculties were asked to produce short films about the workshops they would have given under normal circumstances, and their videos were then uploaded to YouTube. The Artsoundscapes project took the challenge and team members Ana María Alarcón-Jiménez, Mathieu Picas and Laura Coltofean created the video below in which they propose a voyage to prehistory [Viaje sonoro a la prehistoria] through the means of sound by showing viewers how to make a “chasca de nuez”, a nutshell prehistoric percussion instrument.
