Miquel López Garcia is a graduate in Musicology from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) and in Archaeology from the University of Barcelona (UB). In 2024, he completed a MA degree in Cultural managment at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).
He has been a research fellow at various institutions, including the Department of Archaeology and Prehistory at the University of Barcelona or the Institute of Heritage Sciences from the Spanish National Research Council (Incipit-CSIC), and the Archaeology and Paleonthology Service of the Government of Catalonia.
His primary areas of interest include late Iberian Peninsula prehistory, social archaeology, popular music studies, and archaeomusicology. In the latter field, some of his work has received recognition, such as the Becatalaiotica grant from Menorca Talaiòtica and a Special Mention from the Francesc Noy Humanities Award (UPF).
His current research in the Artsoundscapes project focuses on the identification and experimental study of prehistoric sound instruments in Catalonia.
