From the Environmental Unit of the OSSMA we are working to ensure that university activity is increasingly more respectful of the environment and that the university community has solutions to reduce the environmental impact associated with teaching, research and administrative activity.

To achieve this, we promote actions and projects to encourage environmental protection (sustainable mobility, responsible consumption, waste minimisation, GHG emissions inventory, etc.), advise the University’s various bodies and administrative units and the entire university community, and design and deliver courses in different formats.

Our activities are carried out in accordance with the sustainability policy and action programme defined by the UB, which can be consulted in the UB’s OSSMA section, and we advise the governing bodies on their definition. You can find the actions we carry out related to the Sustainable Development Goals in the “OSSMA and the SDGs” section.

Environmental indicators

From the OSSMA Environment Unit we collect data on the institution’s environmental performance and calculate key indicators. You will find indicators for communication, paper consumption, energy and water use, carbon footprint and waste.

Ecotips

In this section, we gather informational materials on environmental best practices for our day-to-day life at the university, in the various formats we have produced over time.

Residues

At UB we generate a wide variety of waste in our teaching, research and administrative activities. We provide instructions on how to separate and dispose of this waste, as well as information on the projects and initiatives launched by OSSMA to reduce the amount of waste and improve its sorting.

Mobility

The mobility generated to come to study or work at UB is the university activity with the greatest environmental impact. In this section you will find the results of the UB mobility surveys, useful information for cyclists, as well as projects and actions to promote more sustainable mobility at the university.

Responsible consumption

In this section you will find the results of the UB’s greenhouse gas emission inventories, periodic information on the evolution of energy and water consumption, and guidelines for responsible consumption and purchasing.

Green corners

The UB has natural spaces in an urban environment with educational and research value. We link you to two of the most representative examples.

Projects archive

Since OSSMA was established in 1998, the Environment Unit has carried out numerous projects within its remit. This section is a repository of all the initiatives that have been documented.
