Materialidades efímeras – Base de datos
This database focuses on the search, cataloguing and study of devotional and commemorative practices, liturgical representations and other monastic rituals based on existing documentation. The aim is, first of all, to set out these performances in detail.
We have selected and studied more than 40 performances that take place inside monasteries and convents, and that can bring us closer to sacred dramatizations (para-theatrical), processional rituals and ceremonies developed in festivities or key moments of the liturgical calendar (Easter Triduum, Palm Sunday, Purification, etc.). However, in order to work on the possibilities of studying representation, we have opened this field to other areas that are not strictly liturgical or paraliturgical in order to study a wide range of rituals that are part of community life (monastic professions, deaths and elections/blessings of abbesses, entry of visitors, etc.) or even actions (gestures, spaces, circuits) that connect with the outside world (entry of kings and other authorities, celebrations of royal marriages, etc.). Rituals related to communal aspects of punishment and punishment have also been incorporated.
