Mass movements, such as landslides, debris flows, rockfalls or snow avalanches, cause severe damage and economic losses over the world every year. Despite of the uncertainties in the future rainfall patterns owing to climate change, all models predict an increase in the intensity of precipitation events in the Iberian Peninsula, which is likely to boost the occurrence of mass movements.

Main objectives

The main goals are a) to increase the knowledge about the triggering conditions and dynamic behavior of mass movements, and b) to develop effective methodologies for their automatic detection and modeling using innovative and state of the art digital multidisciplinary technologies.
