Popular culture, gender and the cultural theory of emotions offer a useful framework to analyse the tensions of our time in all their complexity. The symposium "Emocions compartides, gènere i cultura popular", coordinated by Helena González Fernández, director of the Centre Dona i Literatura, aims at reflecting on the  implications of empathy, pride, love or grief in the writing of gender, as well as at analysing how these emotions are represented in the press, in fiction and in love narratives. The speakers will be Rodrigo Andrés and Isabel Clúa, from the Centre Dona i Literatura, Katarzyna Moszczyńska (Uniwersytet Warszawski), Ivan García Sala and María Teresa Vera-Rojas (Universitat de Barcelona). This symposium is held as part of the activities of the research project "Theory of emotions and gender in twenty-first century popular culture". Registration is free: cdona@ub.edu.
