María Xesús Lama has been elected new director of ADHUC – Research Centre Theory, Gender and Sexuality, replacing Mònica Rius, who has held this position since July 2023.
María Xesús Lama is a specialist in studies on Rosalía de Castro and contemporary Galician literature. In 2018, she was awarded the National Essay Prize by the Spanish Ministry of Culture for Rosalía de Castro. Cantos de independencia e liberdade (1837-1863), a biography of the author. She has published a critical edition of Cantares gallegos and has conducted research on the configuration of the national imagery as well as in literature written by women who emigrated or went into exile. She has co-directed two competitive research projects with Elena Losada and co-edits the journal Abriu: estudos de textualidade do Brasil, Galicia e Portugal.
The position of secretary of ADHUC will be held by Elena Laurenzi, lecturer and researcher at the Philosophy and Gender Seminar-ADHUC at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Barcelona.
