GREDI (Research Group on Intercultural Education) is a consolidated group recognized by the University of Barcelona and the Generalitat de Catalunya. We are an inter-institutional group, formed by members of the University of Barcelona (UB) and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV).

Our scientific activity is defined by its commitment to society, from a critical perspective of contemporary needs and challenges to advance towards more inclusive educational and social ecosystems.

We integrate research excellence, transfer and social innovation in collaboration with public administrations and local entities to transform policies and practices with an ecosocial, feminist, decolonial and intersectional perspective.

Research lines

The group's general project is structured into four lines of scientific activity:

1) Interculturality and social cohesion

2) Participation, democratic citizenship and global commitment

3) Gender and social justice

4) Methodologies and epistemologies for transformative research

Interculturality and social cohesion

To offer relevant responses to the challenge of inclusion and social cohesion, with projects that investigate skills and the management of socio-educational problems, with an intercultural, interreligious perspective and, especially, in and from the perspective of minority groups.

Participation, democratic citizenship and global commitment

Focused on the analysis of forms of civic and educational involvement linked to social, climate and democratic justice, through methodologies and projects around participatory processes in educational contexts, groups and social movements, from a community perspective.

Gender and social justice

We conduct research committed to social justice from a feminist perspective, for the dismantling of interpersonal, community and institutional gender violence, and the construction of equitable pedagogical practices in formal, informal and virtual spaces.

Methodologies and epistemologies for transformative research

With this line of work we promote dynamics of re-definition of research methodologies in order to approach reality in a respectful and committed way with individual and collective agencies. We opt for participatory, feminist, decolonial, ecosocial research approaches and the principles of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI).
