Solidarity bottle top collection

Project for the collection of bottle tops through the CRAI Library, which allocates the material collected to research in projects of non-profit organisations: GAEM Foundation (2016-2018), Noelia Foundation (2019-2021) and ForçAME Foundation (2022-current).

KeFaXoKi_UB

Communication campaign carried out between 2020 and 2021 to promote better quality in selective collection and raise awareness of the need to reduce the waste we generate at the university.

Improving selective collection in buildings

By changing the distribution of waste paper baskets in our buildings and the implementation of selective collection points, we achieved an improvement in the quantity and quality of municipal waste separation.

Selective collection of organic material

Distribution of containers for the selective collection of organic waste in common areas of the buildings, such as lobbies, canteens, multi-purpose rooms and offices, so that the university community can deposit food waste.

Cup-free option in vending machines

Signposting on hot drinks vending machines of the no-cup option, so that users are aware of the discount applied and reduce waste generation.

Returns UB

Project that between 2015 and 2018 included a system of incentives for the return of packaging, the implementation of a system for the collection, return and return of beverage packaging from vending machines, and the reorganisation of selective collection bins in buildings to improve the proportion of waste that is recovered and reduce the waste that is disposed of in the residual fraction.

Paper trays to reuse from CRAI Libraries

The paper trays for reuse are located at the information and lending point of the CRAI libraries, and contain paper used on one side that can be used to take notes and contribute to the reduction of waste generated at the University.

Opportunities for the promotion of the recycling society in university and other educational settings: the case of paper recovery and recycling

Study carried out in 2011 in collaboration with the Spanish Association of Pulp, Paper and Cardboard Manufacturers (ASPAPEL) and the CRUE Sectorial Commission on Environmental Quality, Sustainable Development and Risk Prevention. The OSSMA coordinated the survey at the University of Barcelona.

UB Special Waste Management Handbook

Focusing on the application of techniques for the neutralisation or elimination of hazardous waste generated in UB laboratories, this manual was discontinued in 2005 with the implementation of the special waste management procedure.
