Meritxell Plana, author of the research project entitled "Maternity and Monstrosity in Marvel: the Cases of Black Widow, Mystic and Jessica Jones", has been awarded with a mention of the III Rosalind Franklin Award, Universitat de Barcelona, for the best work with a gender perspective. In her study, she analyzes how the conception of motherhood evolves in the representation of superheroines and, paradoxically, Jessica Jones will be able to be a mother and establish a position of recognition among the various structures of power that have created her precisely because of the exercise of violence.

The research project has been supervised by Andrea Ruthven (ADHUC-Universitat de les Illes Balears) and Helena González Fernández (ADHUC-Universitat de Barcelona) within the Master in Construction of Identities and Cultural Representations (CRIC) of Universitat de Barcelona.
