On December 16, 2025, the COPOLIS group will host a doctoral seminar with the presentation of the first draft of Carme Vivancos Sánchez’s doctoral thesis, titled “Sexual and Affective Transformations under Neoliberalism”. The research explores transformations in love and family structures in neoliberal Western societies, with a special focus on the context of Southern Europe, using Barcelona as a case study. The thesis analyzes how neoliberalism creates tensions between individualistic subjectivity and the need to maintain the socio-economic order through family and biparental forms.
The seminar will be moderated by Júlia Estrada and will take place from 14:00 to 16:00 at the Meeting Room of the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Economics and Business (Av. Diagonal 696).
We look forward to sharing knowledge and discussing Carme Vivancos’s research progress!
