The 1st IdRA Young Researchers' Conference aims to provide a forum for scientific exchange for young researchers linked to the IdRA. The aim is to promote the transfer of their work to the rest of the scientific community, while encouraging communication and cooperation between young researchers.

The Institute for Water Research (IdRA) comprises around a hundred lecturers and researchers from 9 faculties of the University of Barcelona, most of them members of consolidated or emerging research groups, recognised as such by the Government of Catalonia and the UB itself. IdRA's research is carried out through Spanish National Plan projects, European and other international projects, and institutions, agreements and projects linked to national and international companies and other entities and administrations. IdRA's research can be summarised by the following indicators (2010-2015): ISI publications, 784; percentage of ISI publications in the 1st quartile, 60.5%; CARHUS+ publications, 98; percentage of level A CARHUS+ publications, 41.8%; project/convention funding, €13,400,882.
Although the typical profile of IdRA members is that of the "senior" researcher, young pre-doctoral and post-doctoral researchers with great potential and links to the more senior members are also well represented, and their first-class training and modern and competitive profiles will guarantee the continuity of research activities at the level of excellence required today. The 1st Young Researchers' Conference is a pioneering joint initiative, which aims to highlight the research carried out by the young people who represent the future of IdRA. The organisational and scientific work of Julia Martín Díaz and Laura Sala Comorera is an excellent example of the scientific quality and dynamism of younger researchers. Dr Roser Rubio also contributed her experience and, together with Julia and Laura, they have been a perfect example of how two different generations can integrate seamlessly, united by their commitment to science.
This compilation of abstracts constitutes the first in a series of publications - the IdRA Documents collection - which benefits from the Handle System for intellectual property and the support and universal accessibility of the UB Digital Repository.
