The aim of this project is to analyze the extent to which constitutional changes, either through the adoption of a new constitutional text or through constitutional reforms, can contribute to the promotion of coexistence and the reconstruction of the social fabric in societies in transition towards peace. The research will focus on certain aspects such as the inclusion of women and gender equality, the treatment of ethnic and religious minorities and the distribution of power, through a comparative study of various constitutions adopted and/or reformed in post-conflict contexts in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. This analysis will be carried out from the theoretical framework of transitional constitutionalism and the combination of three perspectives: political theory, constitutional law and transitional justice. The research project will have the participation of academic staff and experts from all over the world, in order to incorporate different points of view beyond the Euro-centric vision. At the same time, it is also planned to analyze the role of the international community in the role of facilitator of constitutional reform processes in societies in transition mainly through peace agreements and the need to ensure that these processes are participatory and not imposed from outside.
