Round Table within the International Conference Democracy 4All on November 3rd and 4th at IL3, the Lifelong Learning Institute of the University of Barcelona. Session with the participation of:

  • Jordi Tarrida, Barbara Tech
  • Esther Peña de las Heras, Generalitat de Catalunya
  • Felipe Guzmán, Organización de Estados Americanos
  • Alexander Surzhin, PhD, International Law and Human Rights, Private Legal Practice and Expertise (Strasbourg)

This year the conference examines issues related to technological advances and their impact on democracy and putting special attention to blockchain technology and artificial intelligence (AI) regarding the media, social networks and governance of societies

AI is not only shaped by governance; it now shapes governance itself. Policies define algorithms, but algorithms increasingly define policy. This round table explores the feedback loop between power, regulation, and machine intelligence — and how democracies can stay in control of their digital future.
