Frequent Asked Questions
Every academic year, the University of Barcelona (UB) receives a large number of students from other universities who wish to complete here part of their studies during a temporary stay.
These students can undertake a temporary stay of one or, at most, two semesters within the same academic year, an international exchange programme (Erasmus+, Global Mobility or others) or through an individual application.

This is a summary of the steps you must follow to undertake a temporary stay at the UB.
1. Find out at your home university whether there is a student exchange agreement with the University of Barcelona: Erasmus+, Global UB Mobility, Global Faculty UB, specific EUA programmes, Coimbra Group, etc.
2. If you do not have the possibility of participating in an exchange programme, you can undertake a temporary stay using the individual application method.
3. You can be selected or authorised by your university to participate in the corresponding exchange programme to undertake a temporary stay at the UB.
Each faculty has its own academic offering. You can consult the academic offering here.
It is very important that you prepare your stay well. Accommodation is a crucial issue in order to enjoy a comfortable stay. The UB is part of the Barcelona Centre Universitari consortium, which will help you find accommodation.
You must also prove that you are covered by medical, accident and repatriation insurance. If you have not contacted an insurance back home, the UB offers you various products that will cover the needs of your stay.
Finally, if you have questions about the legal procedures for regularising your stay in Barcelona, you will find more information here.
If you wish to stay during the first semester of the following academic year or for the entire academic year, you must apply before June 15. If you wish to stay during the second semester, you have to apply before November 15 of the same academic year. These dates may vary depending on the academic year and the center; you will find more detailed information here.
