Completé mi doctorado en Antropología en la Universidad de Texas en Austin. Durante mi investigación doctoral examiné las relaciones entre antropología, género y nacionalismo en México, tema sobre el cual he publicado varios artículos y un libro. Más recientemente, he redirigido sus intereses hacia la comprensión de las interacciones entre el patrimonio urbano y las comunidades que habitan la ciudad, manteniendo un fuerte enfoque en cómo se debe introducir la perspectiva de género en cada fase de la investigación y en los procesos participativos en la toma de decisiones en contextos urbanos. Soy miembro fundador del Grupo de Arqueología Pública y Patriminio de la Universidad de Barcelona, y participe en el proyecto financiado con fondos europeos Heritage Values que se centra en las relaciones entre los valores del patrimonio y el público. Actualmente se está enfocando en desarrollar metodologías cualitativas para examinar las relaciones entre público y patrimonio en contextos urbanos en los que el patrimonio puede ser tanto una excusa para gentrificar barrios como una herramienta de empoderamiento ciudadano, tema sobre el que ha publicado algunos artículos. También formo parte del Seminario Interdisciplinar de Metodología de Investigación Feminista e imparto clases sobre Metodologías cualitativas y género en la Maestría de Cooperación Internacional en Arquitectura de Emergencia Sostenible (Universitat International de Catalunya) en la que he dirigido varias tesis sobre temas de género y desarrollo, patrimonio y memoria y políticas de desarrollo.

I completed my Ph.D in Anthropology at the University of Texas in Austin. During my doctoral research I examined the relations among anthropology, gender and nationalism in Mexico, paying special attention to how the notion of national heritage is constructed. I have published several articles on this topic and a book. More recently I redirected my interests towards understanding the interactions between heritage and communities while keeping a strong focus on how gender needs to be introduced in every phase of research. I am a founding member of the GAPP (Public Archaeology and Heritage Group) at the University of Barcelona, and participated in the European funded project Heritage Values that focus on the relations between heritage values and the public. I am currently developing qualitative methodologies to examine the relationships between heritage and the public in urban scenarios where heritage can be both an element of community empowerment as well as a justification for gentrification, and have published several articles in that topic. I lecture at various institutions courses on Gender and Culture, Anthropology of Food and Culture and Identity in Hispanic Societies, and Qualitative Research Methodologies at the MSc. International Cooperation in Sustainable Emergency Architecture (Universitat International de Catalunya) where I have been advisor for students working with issues of gender and development, heritage and memory and the politics of development.
