The Archaeological and Archaeometric Research Group of the University of Barcelona (ERAAUB) was born in 1985 to introduce archaeometry into archaeological research with a particular focus on archaeometry of ceramics. The team obtained official recognition by UB in September 1992 and is a Consolidated Quality Research Group recognized by the Generalitat de Catalunya since 1995. ERAAUB is one of the founding research groups of the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Barcelona (IAUB).

The activity of the team is organized in some strategic research lines that cover many different aspects of Archaeometry; Paleovegetation and Paleoclimate; The Transformation of the Roman World; Roman and Late Antique Material Culture; and the Archaeology of Central Asia, and Archaeology of America. In most of our research lines, the application of experimental sciences to archaeology plays a fundamental role.

Our research team fosters collaboration, internationalization, and transdisciplinarity in science, with a serious compromise for diversity and inclusion. We have a passion for research, and a commitment to form new generations and to transfer our knowledge to society.

The creation of synergies with other institutions, research groups, and researchers is fundamental in our way of understanding science. We hope that we will be able to collaborate with you in the near future. We are completely open to national and international collaborations for research initiatives, formative actions, and public understanding of science. If you have an idea and you think that we can contribute, do not hesitate to contact us.
